Nicole Drost, PsyD
Staff Psychologist
Dr. Nicole Drost is a Staff Psychologist at the Center for Effective Therapy. Dr. Drost obtained her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology with concentrations in Children and Families of Adversity and Resilience and Latinx Mental Health from the Clinical PsyD program at William James College in Newton, Massachusetts. She completed her APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at Astor Services for Children and Families in Bronx, New York, and her postdoctoral fellowship at Kurtz Psychology Consulting PC in New York, New York.
Dr. Drost is passionate about helping families identify their strengths and become their agents of change. Dr. Drost is open and communicative and works to help children and families feel empowered throughout the therapeutic process. She provides individual, family, and group therapies using evidence-based treatments. Dr. Drost is certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an evidence-based treatment for children ages 2-7 with disruptive behavior disorders. She is also certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy Adapted for Selective Mutism (PCIT-SM) and is receiving training toward her certification in Modular Approach to Treatment for Children with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, or Conduct Problems (MATCH-ADTC). Dr. Drost has also led treatments guided by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), PCIT-CALM, and Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE). Dr. Drost has worked in private practice settings, therapeutic schools, hospitals, and acute treatment programs. Dr. Drost’s doctoral research explored teacher perspectives of inclusion-based classrooms and how burnout impacted educator viewpoints on working in inclusive settings.
Dr. Drost is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), PCIT International, the Selective Mutism Association, and Division 53 (Clinical Child Psychology) of the APA.
