Gavin Meade, MA
Practicum Student
Gavin Meade (he/him) is a practicum student from William James College in Newton, Massachusetts. He is in the process of earning a doctoral degree in clinical psychology and is a member of the Children and Families of Adversity and Resilience (CFAR) and LGBTQIA+ Studies concentrations. He earned an Enroute Masters from William James College and BA in Neuroscience at Hamilton College.
Gavin has extensive clinical experience providing services to children and families in a range of settings including many summers at Camp Wediko at The Home for Little Wanderers, CBTeam, and high school counseling. He has trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and exposure and response prevention (ERP). He is currently working towards his certification in the Modular Approach to Treatment for Children with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma or Conduct Problems (MATCH-ADTC).
Gavin’s clinical and research interests include LGBTQIA+ youth and their families, specifically transgender and gender non-conforming/questioning youth as well as trauma and depression in family systems. In his work with children and families, he values an empowerment perspective that highlights clients’ strengths and the strengths of their families to collaboratively problem solve and create interventions and individual treatment.
