Use of Personal Information

The Baker Center, does not collect any personal information unless you voluntarily provide it by sending us an email, making an online donation, or completing an online form.  Personal information submitted will not be transferred to any non-affiliated third parties unless otherwise stated at the time of collection.  When a user submits personally identifiable information it is used only for the purpose stated at the time of collection.

Use of Cookies

To help enhance the functionality of our website and effectiveness of our marketing, we utilize “cookies” that store a small piece of data on a users’ computers and collect certain information about the users’ visit to our website. We use cookies to understand users’ browsing and buying activities so that we can measure the success of online advertising campaigns. We also utilize web beacons, along with cookies, to determine if a user has visited a particular website. These beacons aid in providing more relevant advertising to the user, as well measuring the success of an advertising campaign, but provide no personally identifiable information.

Donations and Fundraising Events

When you make a donation to The Baker Center, or register for a fundraising event, we ask you to voluntarily provide your name, address, telephone number, email address and credit card number so we can process your donation or event registration, send you a receipt or confirmation and communicate with you if necessary.  If you prefer, you can provide that information another way (by phone or regular mail).  When you make a donation on our site, your information goes into a database hosted by a third party and utilized by The Baker Center. The Baker Center may then send you email or mailings about other opportunities to support us. The Baker Center does not store any credit card information.

The company that helps The Baker Center with donations made by credit card does not share or use personally identifiable information for any other purpose.  We do not share any third-party or personally identifiable information you provide for gifts that are made in honor or memory of a loved one.

Log Files

Like most standard websites, we use website statistics packages such as Google Analytics to analyze trends in how our website is accessed and utilized.  Information monitored includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, geographic location of visitors (country, city), browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, time spent on pages, and keywords used to find our site via search engines.  This information is anonymous and cannot be directly linked to individual users.  We may use it to identify high-use or low-use areas of our site, pinpoint problem areas of the site, analyze broad demographic trends in our visitors, and make decisions about how to make it easier for people to find and navigate our website.

This website may contain links to other sites we think may be of interest to our visitors.  Their purpose is to provide visitors with convenient access to other sites that might interest them.  A link to another site does not imply an endorsement of the site’s content or services.  Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites.  We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable information.  This privacy statement applies solely to the information collected by this website.

Security

When users submit credit card information via online forms, registration, or online donation, upon submission that information is encrypted via the highest level of SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) available.  Servers that store personally identifiable information are in a secure environment. Under no circumstances are credit card numbers permanently stored on our website servers. Please note that when users submit a contact form through our website the information is not encrypted.

Non-secured Communications

Posts to discussion forums, discussion boards, or comments to blogs are viewable by other users.  When these areas are not in a password protected area, they may be viewable by the general public.  Please be aware of this when posting personal information in these areas.

Third-Party Service Providers

The Baker Center may engage reputable third-party vendors to help us manage our website and allow us to better serve our constituents. The Baker Center never shares any personally identifiable information with third parties, except as required by law.

E-mail Communication

The Baker Center does not collect your email address unless you voluntarily submit it to us or choose to communicate with us via email. We do not sell or rent any email addresses.  We try to respond to email messages requiring a response within five business days. If you email The Baker Center, your message and email address will be forwarded to the appropriate department or program within the organization.

Policy Changes

The Baker Center reserves the right to change this policy from time to time, without advance notice.  We will promptly post any changes to our privacy policy on our website.
