Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), is the most rigorously tested trauma-treatment for children and adolescents. TF-CBT can be used within multiple child-serving settings (e.g. outpatient, home-based, residential) with applications for various groups (youth with complex trauma, young children, youth with intellectual or developmental disabilities) and has been successfully implemented in many countries across the globe. This presentation will give an overview of TF-CBT describing the treatment model components (e.g., PRACTICE components) and distinct phases, as well as describe creative approaches in implementation and modifications that may be made to the model based on client population, setting, or needs. Limitations of the TF-CBT model or barriers to successful treatment will also be discussed.
