Research

Dr. Mischoulon’s research has focused on various areas of depression, including novel therapies as well as their mechanisms of action. Topics of his work include psychopharmacology (antidepressants) and complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). His specific investigations have included natural remedies such as omega-3 fatty acids, St. John’s Wort, and S-Adenosyl Methionine (SAMe); mind-body interventions such as mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), acupuncture, and heated yoga; and devices for treating depression, such as cranial electrical stimulation (CES). Currently he is collaborating on a project examining efficacy and mechanisms of whole body hyperthermia (WBH) as a treatment for depression.
