Assessment, Consultation, and Evaluation (ACE) Classroom
The Manville School is known for its excellence in providing a highly integrated day school program for some of Massachusetts’ most complex and high-need students. After more than 60 years, school districts and caregivers continue to seek a school experience for their children that promotes active learning, problem solving and social interaction in classrooms, high quality clinical diagnostic and treatment services, a highly structured therapeutic milieu in which students can practice pro-social, self-regulation and executive function skills, among others, and ongoing family support and resources.
Over the past few school years, Manville has seen increased interest in evaluation placements from school districts and caregivers, and we have enrolled more and more students for Extended Evaluations. Starting with the 24-25 school year, Manville will offer a self-contained classroom for students referred for assessment and evaluation.
Referral Process
Referrals will be accepted on a rolling basis from public school districts. When a district makes a formal referral, they will be asked to complete an additional questionnaire that summaries the reason for referral, including a summary of recent performance and any testing data, and a description of the questions to be answered during the evaluation placement and assessments requested. Students will be selected when there is a good match between the assessment needs of the student and what Manville is able to provide to appropriately answer the referral questions. Because the focus of this classroom is assessment and evaluation, the student profile will weigh less than other factors such as age, grade, and cohort fit.
Manville will modify pieces of its established admissions process to ensure efficiency in moving from referral to a decision on acceptance into the ACE Classroom.
